This aligns perfectly with me launching a thing (next week).

Cannot wait for this! I just started on my own and unsettled by how not great I am at client communication.

Also, leave the crumbs. Once a year pull out your stove, choose to sit with the uncomfortable amount of filth discovered and embrace your humanity. Food pieces require an immediate response, you live in the country now.

RIGHT? It's surprisingly hard when you're taking people's money & trying to navigate that with ease and integrity. I'm really looking forward to offering as much wisdom as I can in this department—I had to get real good at this when I started, though my background in corporate sales definitely helped. I used to deal with clients for a living!

Re: the stove: I AM SO TERRIFIED OF LEAVING ANYTHING THAT WILL BRING MORE MICE!!!!! 😂 Am I just delusional? Everyone tells me they are here whether I know about it or not, lol

Im doing my best to just keep my verbal communications in check by not talking fast when I am uncomfortable. If I am honest, I want them to like me and if i am too firm, feeling like ive disappointed them.. its ludicrous to see that statement in writing but its coming up for me.

I grew up on a farm.. cattle, hogs, huge grain bins where mice loved to hang out. They are a part of living in the country. My parents were fanatics about keeping the grass cut and weed whipping around the buildings. They also open burned anything and everything that was brush related, nothing for animals to nest in - not sure if you can do that where you are. Our property always looked neat but it was to deter mice or other vermin from nesting in or near the house.

0000 grade steel wool pieces (comes in a small plastic bag) stuffed in gaps between the flooring and door molding, anywhere they may be coming in. You are baiting so it will take time. If your house sat empty for a season, you will have mice. It will get better though!

LOVE the idea of an advice column! I tried doing that on video, with an AMA, and have now transitioned to naming a topic or else people don't ask questions. But of course yours - in newsletter format - will be SOOOO much better!

For ants, I use diatomaceous earth once I figure out where they're coming in. Will that work for mice as well? Gotta admit, I'd rather have mice than roaches or those big spiders - chestnuts near windowsills and openings spiders could come in are the key there... All of which I found out when I moved from the city to a village. Still learning after all these years!

OOOO! Chesnuts?! As in, whole chestnuts? That's fascinating! (There WERE some pretty big spiders here in the summer when I arrived, LOL.)

Also—YES—people are generally shy, especially on video, but it sounds like you've come up with a fine solution! Which group is this for? I hope everything is going swimmingly for you, Julia!

Thanks Ash! Talking for an interpreter is SO much easier than writing.

And yes, whole chestnuts seem to be a miracle cure, and they are pretty and not chemical!

You continue to inspire as well as inform. My lipstick needs are not grand, but I love the unrestrained attitude and exceptional marketing advice. You were my first mentor and after many years of receiving your snarky wisdom. 😉

1, 2, 4...dammit 4. I can't wait to devour this new content! I'm embarrassed to admit that I still struggle with these things after 18 years in business. I'm ready to set some boundaries and feel less crazed in the new year. :)

There is also the gap between the back splash and the wall - where a check for a large sum of money fell down years ago. Can’t wait for some future owner to pull out the cabinets!!

NO WAY! Baahahahhaha. I just put in new cabinets and didn't seal 'em down yet because I have to tile the backsplash (got some sexy tiles from Spain!!!), but maybe I'll keep them mobile just in case....hahahahaha
