Edit:

Ya know what, Ash?

Maybe you're the normal one.

Is it us? Are we the normal ones?!?!?!!?!?!?

A little scary, right? 😂😂😂

What is normal, anyway? I talk to animals (and dead people). My family thinks I should have been in Young Frankenstein (the ABNormal brain), while most of friends just think I'm cool. Who's right?

This is so beautifully written I had to read it twice AND THEN I wish I hadn’t read it at all so I could read it for the first time all over again:) Who wants to be normal anyway?

We call those the good old boys where I live and I love them. I love that you gave him more than he asked for. I do the same, especially when I feel that they did way more for what they are asking. It comes back to you 10x later when you need it. They will remember you, appreciate you and be there for you when you really need it. Where I live that's important because service people are far and few between, treated badly and can be picky about who they have as clients. It also goes a long way towards fitting in to that small community and getting the locals to love you. :)

10,000%. He was so generous with me. It helps that I am from here originally, so I already know everybody, but I did NOT know him—he was a recommendation from a friend. He treated me very well. I am forever in awe of the skills that people from all walks of life have!

Ash, I’m getting such a kick from the new ash2.0 (or is it a higher point-something number?) 😜 I looove how you’ve gone from zen rainforest vibes to the chic Old City girl with custom wallpaper to die for (I lived a few blocks away near South & Front, and was jonesing for that wallpaper). Now you rent gargantuan lawn equipment, write checks, give snacks to your ups guy — I think you need a reality show!

We left too! We’ve been in The Bull City (Durham, NC) for a few years now and we LOVE ❤️ it here! It’s like a mini Center City with better weather, clean, and no potholes! 😜

That was a lot of demolishing in just a few days!!! Those fish scale tiles are fabulous….for the kitchen?

I was in no less than three tile stores last week because an upstairs bathroom leaked and water was pouring down the walls of my living room!! 😬. The remediation guys finally took away the humidifier and fans that have been blowing nonstop for 3 hellish days!! lol 😂

Oh, HE DID IT ALL IN ONE DAY!!!! The day two stuff was really just bonus tidying up!!! I could not believe it.

I hesitated on the fish scale tiles at first because I was trying to keep dark moody masculine vibes downstairs because there is a library next to the room where I'm putting them, but then decided screw it: I'm bringing my eclectic British vibes in here! This is actually for the downstairs guest bathroom - everyone that comes in the house ends up using that bathroom, so I wanted to make it WOW. Here's to hoping! I'm pairing with this wallpaper from House of Hackney and I friggin hope it looks good (I can never tell until it's done and then I hate it!): https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/house-of-hackney-floribunda-wallpaper

Oh yes that wallpaper is pretty, it will look great with the tile!!! Maybe to add some moodiness you can paint the trim or door or wainscoting or something a dark blue like Hale Navy, but I don’t know what colors you are working with in the library. And what is the floor material/color? It will all come together!!!!

RIGHT - something darker to ground it, right? The library that you pass through before it is super dark blue (https://www.houseofhackney.com/us/apatite-paint-no-23.html) and then it transitions to Clare lighter blue (https://www.clare.com/collections/interior-paint/products/paint-good-jeans). The floor I still need to re-do! But you're right, I probably need something darker in there to balance??? LOL listen to us talking about this

Yes, something darker to ground it! The apatite color is divine!! LOL I’m sure we are boring everyone!!!!!! 😂😂😂

But why aren't we talking more about THAT DELECTABLE TILE?! Where is it going? Kitchen? Bath? The "Writer's Retreat Guest Suite"? 😉
